Are you growing? Is your pot big enough?

Are you growing?

Is your pot big enough?

I’ve been busily creating my new garden recently.

(And it’s bringing me sooooooo much joy! But that’s a story for another day.)

I’m up to the part of creating my new garden that includes planting lots of plants, shrubs and trees.

Some of them had been given to me a couple of years ago and had been waiting in pots for me to build the necessary retaining walls so I could plant them.

Some of the trees were in large pots. Well, tubs really. And they’d grown into substantial plants accordingly.

However, when I went to plant them they appeared very reluctant to leave their pots. I’d talked to them, telling them how excited I was to be planting them into their permanent homes at last. And how they’d be able to grow even bigger without the walls of their tub constraining them.

They either didn’t hear me …

or they didn’t understand what I meant …

or they simply just didn’t care.

Cos they sure didn’t want to leave their tubs in a hurry.

To all intents and purposes, they were locked in there. Glued in there. Attached in some way that was extremely difficult for me to separate them from the tub they were in.

It ended up being a huge mission separating them from their pot so I could plant them in their new home.

A mission which thankfully I finally did win.

Now those trees are happily planted in my new garden.

At least, I’m guessing they’re happy.

They certainly are behaving as though they’re content. They’re flowering away merrily enjoying our lovely spring weather here.

And I just know they’re going to grow even faster now they are able to expand their root base as much as they choose to without their tub walls constraining them.

And it got me thinking, that it’s like that for us sometimes.

We get comfortable.

We get content.

And sometimes that makes us resist change, like my trees resisting being removed from their pots.

Truth is that often our pot has become too small for us, just like my trees.

When that happens we need to jump from our small pot into a larger context so we can grow into the women we are destined to become.

Oftentimes we find that scary and choose to remain cramped in our current pots. Avoiding growth. Choosing to remain in our comfort zone.

Most of us, I find, benefit from having some support when we move into our larger context.

Currently, I’m offering a spring clean special for a limited number of women.

You’ll choose one area of your life where you know you need support to clean out the old and make way for the new you.

We’ll work together for six weeks to create a new spring in your step.
