PICK ME!
Pick me! Pick me!Pick me!
Pick me, pick me, pick me.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It’s a ditty that we hear every day.
Where?
In advertising and marketing.
What?
Most business’ marketing and advertising is merely them asking, imploring, almost begging you to PICK THEM.
Yep, that’s the truth of it.
Here’s the thing, most businesses are constantly spending money on marketing and advertising.
Many businesses are constantly marketing and advertising in ways that don’t make them sufficient, if any, money.
Why is that so?
Advertising sales reps usually tell business owners that the purpose of marketing is simply about getting your name out there.
Truth is there’s way, way, way more to marketing and advertising that ‘getting your name out there’.
We’ve been sold a myth over the past few decades that said we just had to keep putting our name out there and buyers would come to us when they are ready.
Yea right! NOT.
That theory only works for large corporations like Coca Cola who have gazillions to spend on advertising and very few competitors.
IT DOES NOT WORK FOR SMALL BUSINESSES who don’t have heaps of money to spend on marketing and advertising.
Plus, small businesses generally have lots of competition.
The truth is, marketing’s job is not to sell.
Marketing’s job is to help your prospective customers progress along their buyer’s journey until they are ready to purchase from you.
That’s it’s true purpose.
