What you notice is a reflection of you!

What you notice is a reflection of YOU!

What you notice in life is a reflection of YOU.

Whatever you notice in others is reflecting a part of YOU.

What annoys you in others highlights something about YOU.
Whether it’s something that annoys you about yourself also. Or its something you fear in yourself.

The positive things you see in others reveal stuff about YOU.
Could be something you are already or that you desire to be.

Why is this so? It’s because we notice what is in our current frame of reference.
And it’s brought to our attention by our reticular activator.

Our reticular activator is the part of our brain that shows us what we want to see. Even when we’re not consciously aware that we want to see it or that we need to see it.

Your reticular activator is on the lookout 24/7, night and day, when you’re asleep and when you’re awake. It searches for things that you need to pay attention to.

Recall if you will the last car you purchased. That delicious red sportscar that you’d longed for and saved for. As soon as you actually purchase it and start driving it you see them everywhere.

Early last year I was involved in a car accident and my car was written off. That meant I needed to go car shopping. I’d always wanted either a dark blue car or a purple car. My dark blue one, that I’d thought was the best car ever had been mutilated beyond repair. I remember feeling devastated when the insurance company decided they were not going to repair it.

Having reluctantly accepted their decision, I searched online for cars available to purchase in my vicinity and what popped up? Yes, a purple car that happened to be the exact make and model I’d been looking for.

Yep, you guessed it, now it’s my all-time favourite car!

(As an aside, yes, this is how the law of attraction works … and we’re focusing on noticing rather than attracting today. We’ll talk about that another day)

What’s also really interesting is that prior to searching online that day, although I’d wanted a purple car I’d not noticed many purple cars on the road.
Now I see them regularly!

That’s how your reticular activator works.

And that’s the scientific explanation of how what we notice in others is a mirror of what is in us.

I’m curious …

What are you noticing in others?

What does that mean for YOU?

What’s the lesson in it showing up for you? There truly always is a lesson!

What are you going to do about it?

How will you apply that lesson?
