Many years ago, I birthed a business during a tumultuous time for me and for my family. It was like raising a child as I nurtured it from part-time to full-time, working from home; fitting it in around my children. Sound familiar?

Truth is, I was really good at what I was doing—I’d learned the skills and how-to’s from the best—the business stuff though was a trial and error experience for me.

• Some tactics I tried succeeded in bringing more clients to me and some didn’t.
• Some marketing and advertising made me money and some didn’t.
• Some things I tried failed so badly that I may as well have thrown my money on the fire and burned it. Or flushed it down the toilet.

I discovered that there’s a huge gap between the skills that equip us to do what we love to do and the knowledge and support we need to run a truly successful business; and those who train you in your skill are not expert at helping you with your business.

Truth: continually experimenting, doing the same thing over and over in slightly different ways doesn’t achieve different results. Einstein calls that insanity.
