What if there really is a way for you to get exactly what you want?
The good news is that there is!
Throughout your life you have created evidence this is possible. Every time you’ve got exactly what you wanted you’ve added another piece of evidence to your collection that proves this is possible.
So why don’t you get everything you want?
Therein lies the million-dollar question.
To answer that, let’s look at the difference between a want, a need and a desire.
A want is something you wish for.
You might want to travel to Antarctica; that’s on my want list – it’s something I may or may not do in my lifetime even though it’s something I’ve always been curious about and wanted to experience. It’s a nice to have, not a have to have.
A need is a have to have.
You need to have food, water and shelter. A need is something that’s essential for you to have.
A desire is similar to a want with feeling attached to it.
The stronger your feeling is, the more likely you’ll get exactly what you want. When your feelings are strong enough, you’ll do whatever it takes to get exactly what you desire. Remember that pair of shoes you fell in love with and, even though you didn’t need them and may not have had the funds available to purchase them on the spot, you found a way to get them?
The first step then to getting exactly what you want in life is to figure out where it sits on the want/need/desire spectrum.
When you close your eyes and feel into each of your wants, you’ll know where it sits. Desire has a much more expansive feeling to it than want.
The next step is checking it’s in alignment.
Alongside of that is checking your desires are aligned with what’s important to you in your life and in your business – that they help you to be living true to your values and purpose, fulfilling your reason for being alive at this time. It means knowing yourself intimately – the person you were born as, not the you the world told you to be.
My clients all want more money, more success and more freedom – that’s important to them because it allows them more choices in how they live their life, more time to spend with family and they’re able to choose whatever their heart desires. In fulfilling their desire to have all that they get to share their gifts, skills, talents and message with the world; they get to show up as who they were born as and play a bigger game; they get to fulfil their life purpose and live a life they love. And that, my friend, beats only getting what you need hands down!
