I felt like I’d shot myself in the foot

I felt like I’d shot myself in the foot

You don’t know what you don’t know.
I didn’t know what I didn’t know.

I’d been through my coach training. I was certified. Actively coaching clients.

I’d had coaches myself. I’d worked with numerous coaches over the years. Some had been helpful. Others not so much. Along the way I’d become more skilled at selecting the right coaches for me. Just as I’d become more skilled at selecting the right clients for me.

Unwittingly I thought I was on a roll.
I thought I could do it alone.
I thought I no longer needed a coach.
I’d come to the end of the contract with the coach I was working with and chosen not to renew.

I didn’t know what I didn’t know.

What I was about to learn was I always need a coach.

I always need a coach who’s further down the road than I am.
Who knows stuff I don’t.
Who’s had experiences I haven’t.

A coach who is able to serve and support me be who I need to be so I can get to where I want to get.

The lesson I was about to learn was that my expecting to continue on my current growth trajectory without a coach to support me was totally unrealistic.

Often times the not knowing and attempting to move forward unrealistically is just what we need so we can learn those vital lessons and progress in more sustainable ways.

My commitment to myself, since learning that lesson, to always have a coach has been super important in taking me off the roller coaster in my business and creating a business and life that’s tailor made to fit my uniqueness.

My lesson was that when I choose to not have a coach I am stunting the growth of my business and ME.

After learning that lesson a few years ago now, that is something I will never need to learn again.

I made a commitment to myself and my business to always have a coach.

BTW, My foot’s safe now!
