Nowadays, I’m a poster child for self-love

Nowadays, I’m a poster child for self-love.

Up until very recently I never even gave loving myself a thought.

Yes, I’d been raised with the biblical commandment to “love your neighbour as you love yourself” (Mark 12:31).

Until recently I’d never understood it.
It was like a foreign language.

I’d always interpreted it as treat others as you want to be treated.

Me, I’d always treated others that way and couldn’t for the life of me understand why others never treated me likewise.

The key is self-love.

The truth is if I’m not loving myself then no one else can truly love me.

Duh. It took me 50 something years to realise that!

Nowadays my commitment is that:
I love me
I cherish me
I appreciate me
I value me
I honour me

Otherwise I can’t truly love others.

Additionally if I can’t receive love from me, how on earth can I possibly receive love from others?

Furthermore, if we’re not loving ourself, then self-care becomes just another tick box. That’s ultimately why self-love is so important. And that is NOT an egotistical love.

How bout you?
Are you loving yourself?
