When the student is ready, the teacher appears

When was I not learning something?

The day you stop learning is the day you die!

What I’ve discovered throughout my life is that I have learned every day of my life.

Further to that, the value of my learning is always directly attributable to my purpose for learning at that time.

For me school was school. I couldn’t wait to get out. To not be told what to do anymore. To not be told what I needed to learn anymore. To not have to study anymore.

Years later, four children later, off to university and formal academic study I went.

Then it was a learning feast for me. A study feast. I couldn’t get enough. Almost like I’d been in starvation mode where knowledge was concerned for all those years.

The difference was that I was motivated, totally motivated. There definitely was something in it for me.

I had good reasons to choose to study at that point in my life. I was preparing to return to work after having children and I could not return to what I had been doing prior to being a mum. Technology had changed everything.

Added to that, I was loving everything I was learning because I got to choose each of my papers. It was totally up to me. No more teachers telling me what classes I could or could not take.

While it’s many years ago now since I studied in an academic setting, I’m a self-confessed life-long learner. Always devouring information, concepts, and principles. Continually applying and implementing these into my life and my business.

Latterly I’ve learned that Learner is one of my top strengths!

Who ever would have guessed that when I dropped out of high school all those years ago?
