There’s gotta be more to life than this!

Have you ever wondered?

There's gotta be more to life than this!

There’s gotta be more to life than this!

That’s what I kept thinking as I sat in the church pew waiting for the service to begin.

I was just a kid, and yet I remember it as vividly as if it were yesterday.

As much as I imagined what it could be whenever I shared my dreams they were shattered.

When I shared my ideas they were squashed. ‘Won’t work.’ ‘You can’t do that.’ ‘Impossible.’ And so on, you catch the drift.

There’s gotta be more to life than this!

I just kept on looking.
Searching.
Dreaming.
Imagining.
Creating ideas in my head.

I knew from that young age that there was more to life than what I knew and experienced as a child. I knew from a young age that I was going to do great, wonderful, fabulous things in my life. I knew I’d be famous for something. What any of that really looked like was an absolute mystery.

Fast forward, and I’m climbing out of the deep dark hole that was my marriage.

During that time I started studying to be a counsellor believing that would be how I would help other women not end up in the mess I had.

My life, aside from my kids, became focused on that. I’d ended up in a mess. I would do whatever it took to be someone who could help others either not end up there or have support getting out. Either. Both. Whatever women and their kids needed. I’d find a way to serve and support them.

I went through a phase of wondering ‘why me?’

Why did I end up in a marriage I couldn’t survive in?

All I’d ever wanted was to be happily married, the white picket fence and all that jazz. Apparently that wasn’t my reality.

What was my reality was that I’d learned some powerful lessons that I’d never have learned had the white picket fence thing worked out.

I kept moving forward knowing that my purpose was becoming clearer with every step. Knowing that this was my ‘more to life than this’.

Knowing that this would be a core part of my contribution to the world. To creating a better world for future generations.

What bout you?
What’s your contribution?
