Let me ask you a couple more questions. What results do you expect from your marketing? Does it deliver these results consistently? Most of the business owners I speak to every day are frustrated by marketing and advertising that doesn’t achieve the results they expect from it. Maybe you feel like that too. Let’s take a brief look at why that is. Have you ever wondered what your marketing is really supposed to do? And what is the actual purpose of marketing? Most advertising and marketing asks the reader/listener to “buy now”. But if that’s the first time we’ve seen/heard the advertising, are we in a position to buy now? Do we know, like and trust the seller enough to buy now? Are we even ready to buy now? The real purpose of advertising and marketing is to help facilitate your prospects’ decision-making process. Yes, marketing and advertising is not meant to sell your stuff. It’s actually supposed to help your ideal clients make the best buying decision possible for them. No, it’s not all about price. There’s so much more to making the best buying decision possible for them than price. Your marketing should educate your prospects and equip them to make a wise purchasing decision when they are ready. Sadly, most marketing and advertising just asks us to “buy it now from me”. Your job in marketing and advertising your business is to educate your prospective buyers so they can feel confident when they make their purchasing decision. What I find is that hardly any marketing or advertising does that. and that’s what results in businesses feeling pricing pressure from prospects and why business owners lower their prices to get the sale. Warning: when you do that you destroy your margins and make way less money than you should just to stay competitive and get sales. And you spend more time at work and away from your family than those who are successful. You’ve heard me say before that most business owners don’t understand the tremendous untapped potential that lies hidden within their marketing. And I’ll keep saying it because it’s so true. Typically when I talk with a business owner I can easily find them a minimum of $10,000 hiding in their business within just 45 minutes of talking with them. Usually I find way, way more than that.
