Take a look at how I became my own hero

One day, many years ago now, everything changed for me.

I literally became my own hero. My own personal super-woman!

Up till that day I’d always thought I was in a life sentence.

After all I’d chosen to get married. I’d chosen a life sentence because I’d been brought up to believe marriage was for life and that remaining in my marriage for life was expected of me.

After many years of sucking it up and tolerating whatever came my way, whilst also putting every ounce of energy into being the very best mother I could possibly be.

That one day, I knew for sure I couldn’t do it anymore. Things had to change. No one else was going to do it. It was all up to me.

I made my decision and I set the wheels in motion that created huge change for me and my family.

Was everyone happy with my choice? Hell no.

Do I regret the choice I made on that day? Hell no.

Did everything change overnight? Hell no.

Change takes time, however, that decision was pivotal in changing my life. In changing who I am. In changing how I show up in the world. In changing who I choose to be.

Up till then I’d lived my whole life according to society’s expectations. Keeping everyone else happy. Doing what everyone expected of me.

I wouldn’t change that decision for anything.

The decision I made that day was my first step to creating a life that fits me.

A life that I’ve tailor made to fit my uniqueness. A life that allows me to be truly me.

I look back now and realise that moment, that decision has changed everything for me.

Everything changed with that one decision. That moment when I became my own hero.

If I hadn’t made that choice I sure wouldn’t be living the life I am today, nor would I be the woman I am today.

As always, if you want any support in becoming your own hero please reach out to me.
