Where’s your happy place?

Where's your happy place?

Long ago, before the world told me who to be, I was a playful, fun little girl. A beach girl at heart.

Blissfully happy in my own world. Imagining it to be. And so it was. I was content.

I loved the beach and spent every minute there that I possibly could.

Playing on the sand. Building sand castles. Sunbathing. Lazing on the sand.

Enjoying every minute I could soak up there.

Fishing in the rock pools. Carrying my catch home in my bucket. Running outside in the morning to find out if the crab I’d brought home the day before had climbed out of the bucket and walked back to the sea.

Collecting shells.

Paddling. Jumping the waves. Swimming. Body surfing.

Climbing the rocks. Walking.

Lapping up the sound of the waves. The bird song.

Getting lost in the rhythm of the waves and the tides.

The beach was my happy place.

I loved going to sleep at night listening to the roar of the waves and the wind in the old man pine trees at the back of our crib. Even better if it was raining on the tin roof as well!

Running next door to visit Nana in her crib was super fun. She was so much closer than when we were all at home. Plus I didn’t have to ask to go see her. I just went! I loved, loved, loved my Nana! Any day I spent time with her was a fabulous day for me!

All these years later, here I am at the beach again.

Loving living a few minutes walk from the shore.

Guess what? Yep, you guessed right …

I’m there every day. At least once a day. Usually more. The beach remains my happy place.

Yep. I’m still a beach bunny at heart!

Turns out you can’t change a beach girl’s mind about what’s important to her!

What about you?

What’s your story?

Who were you before the world told you who to be?

What place do you give that “you” in your world today?
