Who’s ‘got your back’?

Who's 'got your back'?

Who helps you keep going when the going gets tough?

Cos it does.

In my experience the going gets tough always when you least expect it. Or you’re less able to cope with it. Often cos there’s lots of other challenges going on in your life at the same time.

Who will help you then?

Truth is you won’t be able to do it alone.

Truth is you’ll go backwards if you try to do it all alone.

Truth is, even when you do make progress alone it will be less speedy or less substantial, or both, than you would make if you had help and support and accountability. If someone else had your back. Someone who’s not involved with you in any other way. So they’re able to be fully objective. And focused on your best interests. Which won’t always mean finding the easy way out. But it will mean supporting you through the route that will most benefit you and your business.

Here’s the thing. When you don’t have a coach you struggle along alone. You try to encourage yourself to keep going when the going gets tough. You use lots of tips and tricks to keep yourself accountable for taking action.

You will make progress as long as you continue implementing and taking action. However, you will not gain the traction or growth you dream of. Inevitably you’ll arrive at a destination, although it may not be the success you dream of.

Here’s what I know. Those of us who have a coach keep on going. We keep taking action. We know they’ve got our backs. We know they’re going to quiz us and question us about what we’ve done and what we haven’t done. We don’t want to disappoint our coach and so we do what otherwise would probably not get done in the same time frame.

That’s the power of having a coach. Especially when you own a business, having a coach is an investment that will repay you many times over what you invest to retain your coach.
