“Fuck you, I matter!” said Deirdre to herself.
Why couldn’t she say it to Sylvia? Even after all these years she still didn’t feel safe opening her mouth around her vicious and self-centred sister.
Pretty much every day, as children Sylvia told lies to get Deirdre into trouble with their parents. Sadly, they always believed Sylvia, apart from a couple of occasions when their father had witnessed the event.
Why didn’t that make him question Sylvia all the other thousands of time, Deirdre wondered.
Why did they believe Sylvia without even listening to her?
Why was life so unfair?
Deirdre lived this out with increasing risk and daring throughout her adult life until one day she decided she’d had enough.
She couldn’t do it alone, she needed someone who believed in her no matter what. She needed someone who’d be her boldest cheerleader and supporter, and have her back.
Asking for help was the hardest thing for her to do, yet it freed her from her life long anguish
