The truth is that many of us keep a mental checklist of stuff we’re gonna do differently next time round, right? But do we ever get to it? Do we ever change it?

We get to this time of the year and we’re busy, right? Busier than ever.

We’ve got the kids finishing school and sports etc, etc, and so on.

We’ve got end of year functions that seem to come from out of the woodwork.

We’ve got Christmas shopping to do.

And then there’s decorating the house. Preparing food. Preparing guest rooms for family coming to stay.

Sending out Christmas gifts to our clients. To our staff. To our friends. To our family.

And I could keep adding to that list for ever. But I think you probably get the picture.

Here we are racing uncontrollably quickly towards the end of a year that may, or may not have been all that we hoped for.

Before we know it, we’re deep in holiday mode.

We’re crying out for a break from our business, from work, from life, from everything. We may or may not grab a few days off.

Our staff want a holiday and so we give them one. That means we either close up shop and earn nothing or we work in their place.

Plus we’ve got the kids to keep entertained and spend time with over the school holidays.

In the blink of an eye, it’s February and the kids are back at school. The year’s already well under way and everything’s busy again.

My question for you is, when and how do you plan for your new year?

Fact is that if you don’t plan and prepare to start the new year off right, it will end up being a repeat of last year.

You’ll continue in the same old, same old way of doing business.

No changes. No improvements.

And somewhere down the track that’ll end up frustrating you.

Why? It’ll frustrate you cos your greatest desire is for the new year to be different, more successful, more relaxing and more fun, with more money and more time, right?
